Ramariopsis pulchella (J.-L. É. Boudier) E. J. H. Corner
Lilac Coral
First described by Jean-Louis Émile Boudier in 1887 as Clavaria pulchella. It was moved to its current genus by Edred John Henry Corner in 1950. A striking coral-like fungus that is vibrant lilac when fresh but soon fades to more subtle colours, the basal part is white. It grows to no more than 4 cm tall and is sparsely branched. Found in soil with mosses and grasses; widespread but rarely recorded. It has not previously been recorded in Scotland.
