Phylum: Basidiomycota Family: Tricholomataceae
Lepista nuda (Bull.) Cooke
Wood Blewit
Quite striking when fresh, especially the gills, with vibrant violet/lavender colours, becoming brownish-pink with age. Easily confused with Lepista sordida but that species is generally smaller and with more dominant brown colours with violaceous overtones. Found in coniferous and deciduous woodland, grassland, parks and large gardens. Nationally common.
