Hygrocybe conica  (Schaeff.) P. Kumm.

Blackening Waxcap

A common species, quite variable in colour from almost scarlet to yellow, blackening with age or bruising. Pronounced conical cap with a pale yellow stipe. Can easily be confused with the similar Hygrocybe conicoides, especially in its prefered habitat of coastal dune slacks
